I am Farid Char, an amateur astronomer with more than 15 years of experience in astronomical outreach, education and observation, as well as co-author of several publications. I currently live in Antofagasta (Chile).
Inspired by curiosity, motivated by passion and committed to science, astronomy has been my way of life beyond my professional training, and I have had the opportunity to live under the dark skies of the Atacama Desert. Today I work at the Astronomy Center from the University of Antofagasta, at the Paranal Observatory (THAT) and I have been an astronomy instructor/teacher at levels ranging from primary to university education.
Some of my interests/hobbies are computing, photograph, astrophotography, trips, novelism, animals and numismatics; science fiction, suspense and action are my favorite themes when it comes to books and movies/series.
I am an atheist, apolitical, teetotaler, left-handed, psychologist by profession, childless by choice. And I have my books for sale. Novels and photos.
I also discovered a (rare) asteroid… 2014 OL339.
